goal
The aim of this project was to create a game that was not only fun to play, but would also teach the basic principles of photosynthesis.
target audience
Children aged 8–12 who enjoy learning new things, or expanding their current knowledge, through different and unique techniques.
DEVELOPMENT PHASE
Figuring out what elements were going to be needed and how those elements were going to function in the game was a bit of a challenge. I sketched out a few different options for what kind of gameplay I wanted to see what would work best.
REFINEMENT PHASE
After getting a plan together, I took regular playing cards and poker chips, stuck stickers on each to get a playable prototype together.
Then I took those elements and tested game-play multiple times with three other players to find out what works and what doesn't. I then used that feedback to adjust the rules and elements as needed until the game played as I wanted it to.
DESIGN PHASE
Once I knew the exact elements, it was then time to get a design down to give the game some life.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
Now that I had the main elements, I could finally bring everything together to make one cohesive design throughout the user experience.
